Both the Dodge City Red Demons boys and girls basketball teams will be looking to get off to a hot start this season as they travel to Wichita this Friday to face the Wichita East Flying Aces. This will be one of a four game schedule that will be played before the holiday break.
Dennis Hamilton will be entering his 25th season as head coach for the boys basketball team. Trey Hallman, 12, is the only returning starter from last season’s team. Last year’s team won a WAC title, the Tournament of Champions, a sub-state championship, and placed fourth place at the 6A Kansas State High School State Basketball Tournament. Hallman will be looking to be a team leader as he plays with a group with little or no previous varsity experience.
In addition to Hallman, the team will be looking to seniors Isaiah Bradshaw and Adley Davis. Junior guard Jordan Doan will also be a key factor this year.
The Lady Demons will also look to get back on track after getting knocked out of making the state tournament after a hard loss in sub-state play.
Head coach Justin Briggs is entering his ninth season as head coach and will be looking to compete this year.
This year’s Lady Demon squad brings back three senior guards; Ashley Stephenson, Kesha Buckner and Brenna Briggs. The Lady Demons will also bring back juniors Ciera Lampe, Alexis Sanchez and Summer Wilson.
With many returning starters, Briggs and Buckner will be looking to lead their team back to the successful teams that DCHS has had the last few years.
Start time for this Friday’s games begin with the girls who tip off at 6 p. m with the boys following at 7:30.
Games will be played at Wichita East High School. Admission for adults is $6; students $4; staff passes will be accepted.Share
