Pretty Little Liars is a TV series on ABC Family that began airing on June 8, 2010.  This show is based on a series of books written by Sara Shephard.  It follows the lives of four girls, Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin, Spencer Hastings and Emily Fields, after the disappearance of the leader of the clique, Alison DiLaurentis.  Following the disappearance, the four girls quit being friends; Alison was the one who brought them all together to begin with.

The first episode begins a year after the disappearance, when the four girls begin receiving mysterious text messages from “A.”  “A” not only knows what happened the night of the disappearance, but she also knows secrets of the girls’ pasts that they thought only Ali knew.  Each girl has her own story, struggles and secrets that “A” knows about.  They all follow “A’s” instructions with the hope that their secrets won’t be revealed.

This series is very suspenseful and intense: people are threatened to be killed, mysterious events occur and secrets are exposed.  I give this show five stars for its interesting storyline and the way you get absorbed into the TV as you try to put together clues to figure out the mysterious “A.”  Pretty Little Liars has a new episode every Monday at 7 p.m. and airs again at 9 p.m. the same night.
