Movie Club: Joker

Hello, and welcome back to my newest blog. Movie Club! My name is Payton Mayfield, and here we talk about hype, news, and theories about the latest movies releasing. Today we will be talking about the newest DC superhero film, Joker.

In this new and exciting movie about the Crown Prince of Crime, we follow a failed comedian, Arthur Fleck. We see him encounter the dangours streets of Gotham City in the mid 1980’s,filled with crime, violence, and drugs. Fleck slowly desends into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind, the Joker. Played by Joaquin Phoenix, known for his passion in the roles he takes, and the lenght’s for which he will go to make his movies great, it’s safe to see we are in for a treat. In this new movie we will see a spin on the story of the Joker. While borrowing quite a bit from the early comics, and storylines, this will be a completely original story and take on the character.

Set in the mid 1980’s in the tough street of Gotham City, we will see Arthur rise up and take back what he believes to be his. The film is said to have a much older Thomas Wayne running against the Joker. In the newest trailer we can also see a very young Bruce Wayne. Could the events of this movie later turn Bruce into the caped crusader, Batman? How will this also be connected to the already existing Joker played by Jared Leto? Some have stated some crazy theories on how this plays out. My favorite being the Robin/Joker theory. In this theory we see our original Joker (Joaquin Phoenix) and a new replacement Joker. Some believe that Batman side-kick might be the new version of Joker we see in Suicide Squad. In the comics Robin is kidnaped by the Joker and killed, maybe in this new timeline we see our Joker turn Robin from Batman, and instead to madness.

Is this what is going to happen in the newest DC movies? Is this really just hype, and crazy theories brought on by desporate fans wanting more. Find out when Joker hits theaters on October 4th, 2019. Thank you for joining back again today and be sure to visit again tomorrow when I review This week’s superhero movie, Shazam!
