In only its second year of competition, the boys swim team has began their season, attending and placing at many tournaments.

They first placed seventh at Newton. Later they traveled to Great Bend where they took second place as a team. On Dec. 6 they participated in Manhattan and took fourth overall. In their last meet before winter break, the boys were on the road again, as they traveled to Hutchinson, there they took fourth place over all.

Kayah Hernandez said he has been preparing himself daily.

“I’m taking practice serious and working on the things that I need to improve on,” said Hernandez.

For Hernandez, the Hutchinson meet was his best overall.

“I performed pretty well, I was pleased with my results,” he said.

However, he still feels like there could be improvement.

“My goal is perform better that the last meet by getting better time and winning my heats,” said Hernandez.

Up next for the boys is another road meet on Jan. 4 at Salina South.
