The Drama Club is performing their 2017 fall production of Cinderella. It is a 54 student production including the actors, set, and tech. They have been working on the show since early September and have been practicing up to the show dates.

Harley Long, 11 said she had to do some major preparation for her leading role as Cinderella.

“I had to really think about how to portray the character. I had to think about how it feels to be in love, but also how it would feel to be physically and emotionally dragged around. I spent around two to three hours a day practicing my lines and technique up until show time. Really whenever I have free time,” said Long.

Kaleb Ernst, 11 compared this year’s production to last year’s, ‘The Phantom of the Opera.’

“This year’s show is definitely a lot of fun. Last year’s show was a really difficult and intricate show, while on the other hand the show this year  has a completely different vibe when brought to stage. You can really take something from this show and relate it back to your personal life,” said Ernst.

Director, Anne Kaiser stated that there’s a lot of long term preparation with a show like this, and to expect some wow factor from the production.

“During the summer you start looking at different plays that you think your kids can handle and really bring to life on stage. Casting started in early September and we’ve been going on since then. Practices run from 3:10 p.m. to around 5:00 p.m. and sometimes these kids stay til around 9:00 p.m.. You won’t want to miss any of the small aspects that this show has to offer. From the sets, to the actors, to the choreography,” said Kaiser.

The production will be running from Nov 9-11 in the Dodge City High School Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:00 p.m. Prices for adult admission is $5, and child admission is $3. Admission is free for DCHS students with their student identification, children under the age of five and senior citizens with their Gold Passes.
